Learning to Master the Things that Matter

About Us

Sherry and I married at ages 21 and 22.   My life dream is that we would have had a direct investment in the lives of 1,000 young leaders (I don’t mean in conferences, but those we personally know) and raise our six amazing children to shine like stars in the darkness.

Our work experience for our first 20 years included  teaching and serving as president of a graduate-level college and planting and pastoring churches in Asia. Five years ago we shifted into media work, launched a radio network in the Philippines with the help of UCB Media and opened a new training center for Christian media communicators called MediaLight. This school is run from our home base in Northern Thailand and is also available in shorter format in unreached Asian nations.  We also lead a region-wide online network for emerging leaders called the EmergeNetwork.  Our primary work today is nurturing emerging leaders personally and helping them get their own ministries off to a strong start through training, mentoring and various forms of assistance.

Mixing Family and Ministry
We strongly believe in mixing family and ministry and have done our best to share the gift of an open home to those the Lord has brought to us. It’s not unusual to have a dozen people for dinner.  It’s also common for someone to be living with us for months at a time.
Our children (2 boys/4 girls) have grown up in a social world that is a fascinating mixture of high tech and tribal, opulence and extreme poverty.  They have friends who own helicopters and friends who don’t even own a bicycle.  They love them all, respect them all and see the nobility & giftedness in each one.  We are proud of their worldview and the heart of sincerity our kids have toward others.

A Great Adventure
We all love travel, the outdoors and experiencing new cultures.  Our children have had tea in China, watched festivals in Nepal and whales in Australia. Scuba, surfboarding, horse riding, hiking, and jumping off cliffs into water are typical pastimes for us. We have experienced earthquakes, seen governments overthrown, and have been covered with volcanic ash after Mt. Pinatubo erupted. We try to never miss a sunset or the opportunity to run around in the rain.
We have killed snakes in the house, ridden elephants and have driven on frozen roads in Siberia. We have struggled with tropical illnesses,  pollution, and the dangers of living in a mega-city…and we wouldn’t change a thing. There has been much joy in the journey. Through it all, we have found that the safest place in the world is the center of God’s will for your life.

He has also granted us much fruit over the past 25 years. Our children love the Lord and are missionaries in their own rights.

This site exists to allow us to hold an ongoing discussion  about the things that matter most to us in life.  Sherry is our photographer.  I am the words guy.  Hope you enjoy the blog and will contribute your comments to the posts.  If you find this photo-blog to be beneficial to you please link to us on your own site or facebook page and also pass the word to your friends. You can email us personally at info@quinley.com with any questions or comments you don’t want posted on the site.

Someone told us, “Friends are family you choose” and we have an awesome multi-cultural family in addition to our faithful blood kin, so from all of us… Welcome to the Quinley Tribe!
