Learning to Master the Things that Matter

About Us

I think the thing that matters most to me in life is to help others to find their life's calling and to discover the richness of a life lived intentionally. This site is one of my tools toward that end.   To understand me you might need a few details so here goes.
Sherry and I married at ages 21 and 22.   Our mission in life has always been to raise our six amazing children to shine like stars in the darkness and to have a direct investment in the lives of 1,000 young leaders before we leave this world .
Our Work Life
The Early Years
We left our warm extended family in the USA to serve developing nations in our early 20's.  For the first 20 years we were teaching and I eventually served as president of a graduate-level college in Manila, but we poured our deepest energies into pastoring and working with other to plant churches in Asia.  Our children were born during these years.
Media Missionaries
In 2005 we made a major shift into media missions, went for training at MediaVillage in South Africa and launched a youth-oriented radio network, called The Edge in the Philippines with big help from UCB Media.  Once that work had stability we moved to Northern Thailand to open a training center for Christian media communicators.  We call it MediaLight.  Most of our energies today are spent running MediaLight and working in a volunteer capacity as the regional coordinator for UCB Media International helping launch new TV, radio and new media organizations in previously closed nations within Asia.  For more information on how you can enroll or sponsor students for Medialight just click here.  To know more about UCB Media and setting up a media missions organization in Asia click here.
Mixing Family and Ministry
We strongly believe in mixing family and ministry and have done our best to share the gift of an open home.   It's not unusual to have a dozen people for dinner at our house.  It's also common for someone to be living with us for months at a time. Our children (2 boys/4 girls) have grown up in a social world that is a fascinating mixture of high tech and tribal, opulence and extreme poverty.  They have friends who own helicopters and friends who don't even own a bicycle.  They love them all, respect them all and see the nobility & giftedness in each one.  We are proud of their worldview and the heart of sincerity our kids have toward others.
The Great Adventure
We all love travel, the outdoors and experiencing new cultures. We have experienced earthquakes, been present as governments were overthrown, and have been covered with volcanic ash after Mt. Pinatubo erupted. Our children have had tea in China, watched festivals in Nepal and whales in Australia. Scuba, surfboarding, horse riding, hiking, and jumping off cliffs into water are typical pastimes for us. We try to never miss a sunset or the opportunity to run around in the rain.
We have killed snakes in the house, ridden elephants and have driven on frozen roads in Siberia. We have struggled with tropical illnesses,  pollution, and the dangers of living in a mega-city...and we wouldn't change a thing. There has been much joy in the journey. Through it all, we have found that the safest place in the world is the center of God's will for your life.
He has also granted us much fruit over the past 27 years. Our children love the Lord and each  are missionaries in their own right. Purpose This site exists to allow us to hold an ongoing discussion  about the things that matter most to us in life.   Hope you enjoy the blog and will contribute your comments to the posts.  If you  like what you see here please link to us on your own site or facebook page and also pass the word to your friends. You can email  personally at info@quinley.com with any questions or comments you don't want posted on the site.
Someone told us, "Friends are family you choose" and we have an awesome multi-cultural family in addition to our faithful blood kin, so from all of us... Welcome to the Quinley Tribe!
