Jessica’s 18th

Well, though it grieves us to do so…it’s time to let our little butterfly break free from the cocoon. This child craves freedom more than any of the others and this is her big day so today we let her out of our tight grasp and trust God to be her guide, boundary maker, door opener, Great Provider and disciplinarian too just as He is to Sherry and me. We trust you baby. The world is a bad, dangerous place sometimes and we have tried to protect you from this, but it is also a place of amazing joy and discovery. I believe we showed you a lot of this too along the way. We love our own freedom. I think it’s built into the human heart to love freedom, so we give you this gift today to enjoy as well. Just know that every decision has a consequence so choose the consequences you want for your own life. The Father has a path for you and on this path He will reveal himself to you. You can only learn so much while in our home. The other lessons are out there in the darkness. We’ll always leave the lights on for you Jessy and you’ll always have a bed and a place at the family table all of our life.
